According to the AhlulBayt World Assembly News Portal: <\/strong>Simultaneously with the \u201cResearch Day\u201d, in order to hold the International Conference of \u201cHazrat Abu Talib (a.s.); the Supporter\u00a0of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)\u201d, the \u201c5th<\/sup> Academic Pre-Conference\u201d of the conference was held in Qom.<\/p>\n

\nThe meeting was held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 by the Secretariat of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) and hosted by the Hawza News Agency, and in addition to the presence of a number of seminary students, it was also available through a webinar.<\/p>\n

\nIn this webinar, Sayed Mohammad Morteza Al-Ameli, director of the Institute of Biography Research and Islamic Thought Studies, (the son of the great historian of the Shiite world, the late Allama Seyyed Jafar Morteza Al-Ameli), and Dr. Alireza Hazar, university professor and lecturer of the Jafari Culture Foundation, discussed and commented on issues related to Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).<\/p>\n

\nAbu Talib (a.s.) oppressed by the history<\/strong><\/p>\n

Referring to the great personality of Hazrat Abu Talib and the Shiite negligence in dealing with this exemplary figure in history, Hojat al-Islam al-Ameli said, \u201cHazrat Abu Talib, the Prophet\u2019s uncle, had a very high personality which has been oppressed and neglected by history.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe character of Abu Talib (a.s.) is known from his faith in the critical moments of the beginning of Islam – such as the time of Abi Talib\u2019s She\u2019eb (Meccan boycott of the Hashemites)\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cHis character should be understood from the bottom of his heart, but the information about him is incomplete and there is a need for more research on this great man, both in the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic periods\u201d, noted the director of the Institute of Biography Research and Islamic Thought Studies.<\/p>\n

\nHe considered the periods of \u201cbefore Year of the Elephant\u201d, \u201cthe birth of Abu Talib\u201d and his \u201cchildhood, adolescence and youth\u201d as examinable and said, \u201cFor example, it should be examined what wars Abu Talib participated in during his youth and what was the reason for this presence?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\nReferring to the various supports of Abu Talib (a.s.) for the Prophet (p.b.u.h) Al-Ameli said, \u201cIt should be written that Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) not only helped the Prophet (p.b.u.h) with words, but also took up the sword in defense of the Prophe (p.b.u.h) and in support of Islam and was willing to sacrifice his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nDirector of the Institute of Biography Research and Islamic Thought Studies also referred to the \u201cjurisprudential aspects\u201d of Abu Talib’s biography and said, \u201cThe answer to many jurisprudential questions – in the field of Khums, Inheritance, etc. – can be obtained by using the life story of Abu Talib (a.s.).\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAl-Ameli also referred to the literary and artistic dimension of Abu Talib (a.s) and said, \u201cImam Ali (a.s.) says, \u201cLearn the poems of Abu Talib and teach them to your children that there is a lot of knowledge in them.\u201d\u201d<\/p>\n

\nHe also suggested the following topics for research on Abu Talib:<\/p>\n

– Names and titles of Abu Talib (a.s.)<\/p>\n

– Who called Abu Talib Abd Manaf?<\/p>\n

– Abu Talib (a.s.) in the Holy Quran,<\/p>\n

– Abu Talib (a.s.) and Holy Quran,<\/p>\n

– The Prophet was named Ahmad by Abu Talib (a.s.),<\/p>\n

– Praying for the Rain by Abu Talib (a.s.),<\/p>\n

– Abu Talib\u2019s military presence to defend Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h),<\/p>\n

– Why did all the sons of Abu Talib (a.s.) believe in Islam? The role and method of Aboutaleb in raising his children,<\/p>\n

– Shafa’a (intercession) by Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.),<\/p>\n

– The pre-Islamic rules for Hajj some of which were founded by Abu Talib,<\/p>\n

– Concealment of faith by Abu Talib (a.s.) and its reasons,<\/p>\n

– Hazrat Abu Talib\u2019s role in sacrificing his brother Abdullah, and how he would have behaved if he had been a sacrifice, and would he have submitted to the command of his father and God?<\/p>\n

– The role of Abu Talib and his wife, Fatemeh bint Asad, during the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and meeting the angels and annunciating and sacrificing the Aqeeqa on the seventh day,<\/p>\n

– Hazrat Abu Talib\u2019s role in the story of Abraha\u2019s attack on the Kaaba and accompanying his father<\/p>\n

– Hazrat Abu Talib\u2019s role after the \u201cYear of the Elephant\u201d in relation to the issue of breastfeeding the Prophet (p.b.u.h),<\/p>\n

\n\u201cEnmity with Abu Talib (a.s.)\u201d is a Jewish project<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this academic session, explaining the course of \u201cResearch on Abu Talib (a.s.)\u201d throughout history, Dr. Alireza Hazar said, \u201cResearch on Abu Talib (a.s.) has always been considered as a red line throughout the history of Islam.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nQuoting the \u201cNubakhti\u201d as saying \u201cThe Twelver sect are believers in the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), Dr. Hazar added, \u201cIn the narrative heritage of the Shiites, there have been many researches and questions about Abu Talib (a.s.) throughout history.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cFrom the beginning of Sheikh Mofid\u2019s time, the writing on Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) began and Sheikh Mofid himself has written a treatise about this character which is known as the treatise \u201cAbu Talib\u2019s belief\u201d\u201d, Hazar said.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cFor many years, the book \u201cAl-Hojjato ala al-Dhahab ela Takfir Abi Talib\u201d by \u201cSayed Shams al-Din Fakhar bin Mo\u2019ad al-Mousavi”, which contains many narrations on Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), was considered as a source of research on Abu Talib\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThen, the sign that this issue has been considered during the Safavid period is the many narrations that have been mentioned in the book \u201cBihar Al-Anwar\u201d\u201d, the university Prof. continued.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cIn modern period, Allama Amini in the 7th<\/sup> and 8th<\/sup> volumes of his book \u201cAl-Ghadir\u201d has dealt well with Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). After Allameh Amini, the late Allameh \u201cJafar Morteza Al-Ameli\u201d wrote strongly on Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.)\u201d, he clarified.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\nRegarding the approaches of research on Abu Talib (a.s.), Hazar said, \u201cTalking Abu Talib (a.s.) can be either \u201cExtra-religious\u201d or \u201cIntra-religious\u201d perspectives. All the works that have been written about Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) so far have been with an Extra-religious view and we do not have strong Intra-religious studies and researches about him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAlireza Hazar also stressed the need to address other aspects of Abu Talib\u2019s (a.s.) personality and said, \u201cA misunderstanding was made for Shiite scholars and they thought that the level of discussion about Abu Talib was just enough to say that he was not an infidel and was a believer. While to prove his faith, Sheikh Mofid’s treatise was sufficient.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe university professor also referred to the Sunni views on the faith of Abu Talib (a.s.), and said, \u201cIbn Abi al-Hadid\u201d in the sixteenth volume of his book, \u201cSharh Nahj al-Balaghah\u201d, in a chapter entitled \u201cDispute about the faith of Abu Talib\u201d has said that many sunnis also acknowledge his faith.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nHe called the failure to study the various aspects of Abu Talib\u2019s life a \u201cproject\u201d and stated, \u201cIn my opinion, the \u2018enmity with Abu Talib (a.s.)\u2019 was a project led by Judaism, and this theory is based on solid reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nA member of the Jafari Culture Foundation also spoke about the literary and poetic aspect of Abu Talib (a.s.) and noted, \u201cReading the poems of Abu Talib (a.s.), in addition to help being familiar with him, can also acquaint us with his character.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nIn the end, Dr. Hezar suggested 7 general topics for the clerics to conduct research about Abu Talib (a.s.):<\/p>\n

\n– Introducing the symbol and symbolic role of Abu Talib (a.s.) in Shiite thought and its functions throughout history;<\/p>\n

\n– Abu Talib (a.s.) in the poems of Persian speaking poets;<\/p>\n

\n– Specifying the different parts of the poems of Abu Talib (a.s.);<\/p>\n

\n– Introducing Sunni scholars in the chapter \u201cDispute on the faith of Abu Talib\u201d in the book \u201cSharh Nahj al-Balaghah\u201d by Ibn Abi al-Hadid.<\/p>\n

\n– Abu Talib (a.s.) in the texts for pilgrimage of Imamas (a.s.)<\/p>\n

\n– The jurisprudence of hadith about the narrations about Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.);<\/p>\n

\n– The intercession of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\nIt should be mentioned that by the initiation of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and support and cooperation of the similar institutions, including, \u201cImam Hossein (a.s.) Holy Shrine\u201d, Hazrat Aboutaleb Research and Publishing Institute\u201d, \u201cThe World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought\u201d, \u201cIslamic Sciences and Culture Academy of Islamic Propagation Office\u201d, \u201cAl-Mustafa International University\u201d, \u201cHawza Language teaching center\u201d, \u201cInternational University of AhlulBayt (a.s.)\u201d, \u201cMirath-e Nabowat Cultural Institute\u201d, \u201cJamiat al-Zahra Seminary University\u201d, \u201cZorria al-Nabawia Research Center\u201d, \u201cQasem ibn al-Hassan (a.s.) Religious-Cultural Institute\u201d, and \u201cAbna al-Rasoul Cultural and Artistic Institute\u201d; international conference \u201cHazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)\u201d will be held.<\/p>\n

\nThe deadline for submitting academic works and articles to this conference has been extended until February 18, 2021.<\/p>\n
