According to the AhlulBayt World Assembly News Portal: <\/strong>According to al-Shammari, at the height of the attacks by Daesh, in which large parts of Iraq \u200efell and the holy shrines were endangered, Haj Qasem attended the offices of the religious authorities and explained the situation in full detail, helping to have the \u2018obligatory jihad\u2019 fatwa to \u200efight against terrorism issued.<\/p>\n

\nAccording to the Communication and Media Affairs Centre of al-\u200eNujaba in Iran\u200e, Nasr al-Shammari, the \u200espokesman of the al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance movement, spoke via video conference at an \u200eacademic webinar entitled \u201cThe Role of the Islamic Resistance in Defending the Shi\u2019ah Shrines\u201d \u200ehosted by the University of Religions and Denominations in Qom, Iran on December 30, 2020.\u200e<\/p>\n

\nAl-Shammari addressed the topic of his speech as \u201cThe Role of Martyr \u200eGeneral Qasem Soleimani in Defending the Holy Shrines of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) in Iraq,\u201d and recalling the deplorable situation in neighbouring Syria and the subsequent occupation of \u200elarge areas of Iraq by Takfiri terrorists, he said, \u201cMajor governorates such as Nineveh, Salah \u200eal-Din and al-Anbar fell within a day and Daesh quickly reached the threshold of \u200eBaghdad, Najaf, Karbala governorate and Samarra was also completely besieged.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nHe continued, \u201cIn that situation, Haj Qasem Soleimani entered Iraq on the night of the fall of Mosul and implemented a two-stage plan that, in the first step, would remove the danger from Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala, and in the next step, would open the way for the security forces to reach Samarra so that the catastrophic tragedy of 2006 (the destruction of the Holy al-Askari Shrine) is not repeated.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nReferring to the numerous meetings of Martyr Soleimani with Islamic Resistance commanders, \u200egovernment officials and influential Iraqi figures, the al-Nujaba spokesman noted, \u201cIt was Haj Qasem who, by attending the offices of the religious authorities and explaining in full detail the prevailing conditions, helped to have the \u2018obligatory jihad\u2019 fatwa issued against Daesh.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAl-Shammari further mentioned the general panic that had gripped Iraq in those days, \u200ethe flight of many government officials from the capital, the collapse of the army and \u200esecurity forces, the emptying of the treasury and weapons depots and added, \u201cMajor General \u200eSoleimani held a meeting in those days and he warned that we should not allow these \u200edangers to threaten the holy shrines under the pretext of these problems.\u200e\u201d<\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Referring to Haj Qasem\u2019s bravery in the operation to prevent the fall of Samarra, he \u200eadded, \u201cHe was on the verge of martyrdom many times there and in addition to being \u200ea high-ranking and experienced combatant, his humane and ideological personality \u200estrengthened the morale of the warriors defending the shrines.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n


\n<\/span>\u200eAccording to the deputy secretary-general of al-Nujaba, in the bloody operation \u201cJurf \u200eal-Sakhr\u201d (later called \u201cJurf al-Nasr\u201d), Daesh also openly attacked with the slogan of \u200edestroying the holy shrines of al-Kadhimayn, Karbala and Najaf. Therefore, Haj Qasem \u200eSoleimani kept telling the warriors, \u2018You are now like the companions of Imam al-Husayn and you must defend the holy shrines.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n


\n<\/span>al-Shammari stated in this regard, \u201cI heard from Haj Qasem that he said \u2018this war is \u200ethe most honourable war and I am ready to be martyred in defence of the shrines of the Ahl \u200eal-Bayt (a).\u2019 So it was. By following Hadhrat Aba al-Fadhl al-Abbas (a), his hands were cut \u200eoff and he was torn to pieces in defence of the holy shrines in this land.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n<\/span>In the continuation of this video speech, he described Martyr Soleimani as a man who \u200emelted in Islam and the love of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and added, \u201cHaj Qasem\u2019s efforts \u200ebeyond Iran and Iraq were as great as the Islamic ummah. He considered himself the \u200edefender of all Muslims in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n<\/span>The official spokesman of al-Nujaba referred to the toughness, tact and martyrdom-seeking nature of \u200eMartyr Soleimani and noted, \u201cWith his presence on the scene of the operation, problems \u200ewere solved and the fighters rushed to the battlefield with double speed and force because they saw that this beloved elder was standing on the front line before \u200eall others.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n<\/span>al-Shammari emphasized in conclusion, \u201cThe will of God Almighty was such \u200ethat this great warrior achieved his eternal dream of martyrdom and left great and \u200elasting effects by sacrificing his blood.\u201d<\/p>\n
