{"id":41982,"date":"2019-12-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-23T20:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ahlulbaytworldassembly.org\/news\/ayatollah-ramazani-urges-muslim-states-to-demand-guarantees-on-sheikh-zakzaky-health\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T10:49:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T07:19:16","slug":"ayatollah-ramazani-urges-muslim-states-to-demand-guarantees-on-sheikh-zakzaky-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ahlulbaytworldassembly.org\/en\/news\/ayatollah-ramazani-urges-muslim-states-to-demand-guarantees-on-sheikh-zakzaky-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayatollah Ramazani urges Muslim states to demand guarantees on Sheikh Zakzaky health"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><strong>According to the AhlulBayt World Assembly News Portal: <\/strong>The Secretary General of the World Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Assembly urged Muslim countries to demand that Nigeria\u2019s government ensure the safety and health of senior Shia cleric Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Speaking at a forum in Tehran on Tuesday marking the 4th anniversary of the Zaria Massacre in Nigeria, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani said Islamic countries should use their social and political capacities and demand ensuring Sheikh Zakzaky\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should also act in this respect, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Ayatollah Ramazani noted that Sheikh Zakzkay\u2019s health is in critical conditions and he should receive treatment immediately.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">In December 2015, the Nigerian army raided Sheikh Zakzaky\u2019s residence and nearby buildings in the northern city of Zaria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">The top cleric, who is in his mid-sixties, lost his left eyesight in the raid. More than 340 people, including the Sheikh\u2019s sons, were also killed at the hands of the Nigerian army.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife as well as a large number of his supporters were arrested following the raid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">The Sheikh was charged just in April 2018 with murder, culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disruption of public peace and other accusations.
